Education and Training
Oregon has numerous education and training providers that support the manufacturing sector across the state. All providers work collaboratively with industry to determine workforce skill needs and then align programs and services to address those needs. The three main provider groups include:
- Workforce Investment Boards: WIBS are regional entities that coordinate and deliver a broad range of services to attract young talent into manufacturing and provide incumbent worker training to upgrade the skills of the current workforce.
- Community Colleges: Eleven community colleges across the state provide an extensive array of certificate and two-year degree programs in manufacturing-related occupational areas. The career pathways section provides a profile of each college’s current offerings and manufacturing-related career pathways
- Universities: Several Oregon Universities offer engineering-related degrees that support the modern manufacturing workplace. The Oregon Institute of Technology offers applied degrees in both Mechanical Engineering Technology and Manufacturing Engineering Technology.
Direct links to these providers are listed on this page. Each organization and institution offers slightly different programs and services, depending on the manufacturing base in their region. Check them out!
